"Hello World" is a fantastic new journal -- the first issue just came out this winter. It is subtitled "The computing and digital making magazine for educators", and it is a free download (you can get a free paper copy if you live in the UK, which I do not) published three times per year.

This first issue features an article on the legacy of Seymour Papert in education, including the connection to Scratch and the importance of creativity and community. There are also a lot of tips on teaching coding in various environments as well as teaching computational thinking (apparently a term first used by Papert!). Highlights for me include a set of flowchart probes for checking student (mis)understandings of algorithms and conditionals, and ideas for an activity in which students walk tape shapes on the floor, record their route, and then recreate their algorithm in Scratch. I am also excited to try some of the sites they recommend, such as http://textadventures.co.uk/quest to make your own text-based adventures games.
Follow them on Twitter at @HelloWorld_Edu for notification of publication of the next issue!
